How to Print a Calendar Perfectly Every Time

Printing a calendar sounds simple — and it should be. Yet a surprising number of people end up with cut-off edges, tiny unreadable grids, or a calendar squeezed into the corner of the page. This guide walks you through printing a clean, full-page calendar from any device, and shows you how to fix the most common problems.

Step 1: Choose the month or year you want

Start from our free calendar maker and pick the month and year you need. You can also open a ready-made page such as the 2026 yearly calendar or any individual month. If you want a calendar with no dates at all, use the blank calendar template — it works for any month of any year.

Step 2: Customize before you print

A few small choices make a big difference on paper:

  • Week start: In the US, calendars usually start on Sunday. Most of Europe starts on Monday. Pick whichever matches how you think about your week.
  • Holidays: Turn on holidays for your country so important dates are already marked when the page comes out of the printer.
  • Notes: Click any day and type directly into the cell — birthdays, appointments, deadlines. Whatever you type gets printed too.
  • Orientation: Landscape gives each day a wider box, which is better for writing. Portrait fits binders and wall clips more naturally.

Step 3: Print (or save as PDF)

Click the Print button, or press Ctrl+P (Windows) / Cmd+P (Mac). Your browser's print dialog opens with a live preview. From here you can:

  • Print on paper — select your printer and click Print.
  • Save as PDF — change the destination printer to "Save as PDF". This gives you a clean PDF file you can email, share, or print later at any print shop.

Getting the settings right

Paper size

US Letter (8.5 × 11 in) is standard in North America; A4 is standard almost everywhere else. Our calendars are designed to scale cleanly to both. If you're printing at a copy shop, ask which size their machines are loaded with.

Margins

Default margins work well. If the calendar looks small, set margins to "Minimum" in the print dialog — the grid will expand to fill the page.

Scale

Leave scale at 100% or "Fit to page". If a column gets cut off, switch the orientation instead of shrinking the scale — a landscape page almost always fixes it.

Background graphics

If the colored header row prints as plain white, enable "Background graphics" (Chrome/Edge: More settings → Background graphics). Browsers skip background colors by default to save ink.

Common problems and quick fixes

  • Calendar prints tiny: Set margins to Minimum and scale to "Fit to page".
  • Last column cut off: Switch to landscape orientation.
  • Colors missing: Enable background graphics in print settings.
  • Website menus printing too: That won't happen here — our print layout automatically removes everything except the calendar itself.
  • Need many copies: Save as PDF first, then print the PDF. It's faster and identical every time.

Printing a full year on one page

Open any yearly page — for example the 2026 calendar — and press Print. The twelve mini-months are arranged to fit a single sheet, which makes a great year-at-a-glance reference for your desk or fridge.
